Just thought some might be interested in this.  I know that I am,  Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott.  Oh yeah, this will make it up to Cathy for Robins Too Tight Tights

I am too!  I loved when they paired up for Gladiator.  I am glad that they decided to veer away from the original story idea which was to have Russel Crowe play both Robin of Locksley and the Sherriff of  Nottingham.  It will be interesting to see how they tackle the Robin Hood backstory.

Ha! I'm not sure I'll ever be able to look at a man in green tights the same ever again.

At least you know with Ridley Scott directing, the movie will be absolutely gorgeous from a cinematic point of view.  I caught the tail end of the trailer... is Russell Crowe supposed to be an older Robin Hood?  Anyone ever seen Robin and Marion with Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn?  I loved that one too.

I saw the ad for this during the Super Bowl, and I too am very excited about it!

Will I get kicked out of this group if I say that I don't like Russell Crowe very much?

I'm not a hater or anything, I just...I don't know.  I still end up watching all his movies though!

*Sigh* Okay, so am I banned?

Well, folks -- what d'ya think? keep Vicky or ban her? Let's take a vote.  (Vicky - my vote to keep you would be ensured with your posting any book to my WL.)

No, really Vicky -- it takes much more than a mild dislike of Russell Crowe to get banned from this group. Now, if you professed a dislike of Uhtred, you'd have to run and hide.

Even if I'm kinda meh about Russell Crowe, I do love Cate Blanchett!

I'm neutral on Russell Crowe.  He's a very good actor, and of course he's attractive. I'm not hugely into him though.  Cate is a fabulous actor as well.  I don't know how you can go wrong with those two as leads.

I missed the Cate Blanchett part.  That should make for an interesting combination onscreen!

She's the female lead.  Maid Marian.

I'm looking forward to it, too.  I agree that Crowe and Blanchett are good leads.  If the writing is anywhere near adequate, they should be able to turn it into a good movie.

Add me in as one of those that can take or leave Russell Crowe.  He's a good actor, but as for attractiveness - he does nothing for me!  But I was also excited to see the trailer during the Super Bowl because I love Cate Blanchett!

We discussed this during the Super Bowl too - I also really like Cate Blanchett. I have really no opinion on Russell Crowe - he was fantastic in A Beautiful Mind, though.

He isn't a pretty boy, but he's a fine actor and has the grit I believe to play a realistic Robin.  Cate Blanchett is one of those actors that are so chameleon like that you forget she's acting.

Sharla's right if the writing is good then we are in for a good movie.  But the fact it is a summer release they are going for blockbuster, we'll see.

I also am not a fan of Russell Crowe - I think the only movie I liked him in was Mystery Alaska - and that was not great acting by any means.  I am looking forward to the movie however, I could just do without his face on the screen.  ;)

Actually, after looking at your wish list, I DO have several books I could post to you!  So you better vote yes!

You know, as I was typing that post, I actually thought, "At least I'm not confessing that I don't like Uhtred!"  LOL...

Yes, that would've been very, very bad indeed.

We don't go see many movies, but this one ,we probably wil.  We've been watching the BBC Robin Hood series and since (the last time I checked) it was not being renewed for a fourth season, we will be in serious need of a Robin Hood fix.

Mimi - It's a good thing you reminded me that you were the non-lover of Uhtred now instead of a few months ago when I was your Secret Santa.  You perhaps would've gotten a lump of coal and a Thor amulet!   LOL!

Colleen - Well, I certainly don't have any, but there is someone around here who's in the possession of said Thor amulet . . .  One must apparently read the "Somebody Stop Me! I'm on a Bernard Cornwell Rampage" thread, which I thought was required reading at this forum!  The answer is there!

Forget the intervention.  Valli already tried that.  See said "Cornwell Rampage" thread.  :D
