I'm trying to find out what publisher put out Romane books with a picture of one of the main charaters on the front cover in a circle on the spine. The books I remember reading that were like this were in the late 80's and early 90's. I know it's not Zebra.

Thanks.

Well, I can tell you some it's definitely not:

Silhouette Special Edition, Silhouette Intimate Moments, Silhouette Desire, Harlequin Temptation, Loveswept, Harlequin Presents

I've got books from all those lines here and none of them match that description.

Dell?  Looks like most of the historicals I have in my keeper drawers from that time period with one of the character portraits on the spines are from Dell.  Mostly my Marsha Canham books are what I see so far.  A couple have both characters, but most of them have 1. Haven't looked through the rest of my books.  Oh, and these are in ovals rather than circles.  Dunno if that matters or not...

Dell (in the 1990's) I know for sure Blood of Roses had a portrait on spine.

We have some like that by Topaz, Signet, and Ballentine at the store... it seems that most publishers did something like that at one point :)
