We all know the drawing point of romance are the heroes (sigh...) but in my eyes a good heroine is absolutely essential. If she's not written well, or an annoying flake I just want to yank her out of the book so the hero won't be trapped with her! (Kind of like how I feel at the end of "My Man Godfrey"). What are the heroines you could spend the whole day hanging out with, and why? I love the women in Nora Roberts "Key" trilogy, plus I'd love to actually visit their store in that book. I also love pretty much all of Loretta Chase's heroines- I'd especially love to hang out with "Miss Wonderful" and the heroine from "Mr. Impossible" (the Egyptian expert!) and "Your Scandalous Ways"- I want to go to Venice SO bad, and the era that book is set in is perfect. Not to mention she's a smart courtesan who's close friends with Lord Byron, so you KNOW she'd have good stories!

I would have to say definitely Claire from Outlander.  Love her and she'll be with Jamie.  RIght!!!  LOL    A book I just read recently had a heroine that I just loved.  Zoe from Don't Tempt Me (Loretta Chase).  She was great!!

Sherron - I'm with you about Claire. Also, I just picked up Don't Tempt Me tonight and now I'm excited to "meet" Zoe. I'd also like to hang with Jess from Lord of Scoundrels. I like how she stands up for herself, doesn't take crap from anyone and doesn't care what anyone thinks of her.

A lot of Eloisa James's heroines seem like they would be good, funny GFs.

Agree with those who say that a lot of Loretta Chase's heroine are great, altho I didnt like her latest. Zoe.

I wanna be BFF with one of my favorite heroines - Madeline Hunter's Alexia (RULES OF SEDUCTION). She is smart, fiercely loyal, kind, has a cool name, great fashion sense, and doesnt have a jealous bone in her body. A winning combination.

I liked Zoe because she was very open sexually for a historical.  I thought some of her scenes with hero was soooo funny.  Especially the one in the park.

She's funny but I cant be friends with her since I aint the type who becomes silent just because she waves a gaudy piece of jewelry at me. <shrugs> I notice that she is the type who prefers to hang around guys.

Ha ha, I was getting ready to post how I could really only be friends with the men.  Off the top of my head, I couldn't think of a woman that I would like to know.

hmm...I'd rather hang out with the heroes! but I liked Caroline from Mackenzie's Mission(she likes to be comfy and is smart as all get-out)..also liked the woman in Daughtridge's Sealed With a Kiss(think that's the first one)...actually  kinda liked the women in both but the one in the first book was nice...oh andannie from Krentz's  Wildest Hearts is pretty spunky..and the woman from Ciotta's Charmed(think that's the one who dresses up and does the fairy tale parties..she seems like fun!)

This falls under chick lit more than it does romance, but I would totally want to be BFFs with Cannie Shapiro from Jennifer Weiner's "Good in Bed." It's like we share the same brain. Elizabeth Bennett from P&P would make an awesome girlfriend, too. And I wouldn't mind hanging out with Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson - aside from being a really cool, tough-@ss gal, I could always count on her to fix my POS car! :-)

I'd rather hang out with the heroes. Maybe be the snarky yet loyal manservant or something. :D

OMG, I'm loving Zoe in Don't Tempt Me. The scene in the park is priceless and she is so inappropriate for the time. I love how she talks about her bottom and I love the crazy aunt that refers to Zoe as the bolter.
