Ah, ha! Bet this one will stump you guys. I read a romance set in a commune once. I think it was in South America. American 20-somethings moved there to set up a new living community in the jungle.
There was a flood, a murder and then I think several of the characters ended up moving to town and living in a hut and running a fishing boat tour. Heroine was torn between two men...and got hurt one time and had to go to a free clinic for treatment. One guy stayed with her and took care of her. The other one ran off and got drunk and disappeared. Responsibility wasn't his thing.
He came back months later to apologize, but by then, she knew who the real hero was.
Ring a bell??? I can't remember the title or the author.
Any other romances set in communes that you can think of???
The closest thing I can think of to a commune romance is Fair Day, and Another Step Begun, an old YA book, and I think the commune was only a section of the overall plot. It's been many years, but as I recall the heroine is pregnant and looking for her baby's father (it's based on an old folk song) and she stops in the commune for awhile and another guy falls in love with her, but she keeps moving on. http://katieletcherlyle.com/fairDay.php
