Do any of you know of any romances set in India? Historical or contemporary is fine...

Thanks for the info....

I kind of want something where at least one of the characters are Indian. I am interested in the culture and thought that would be  a good way to learn more.

Blood Moon over Britian by Morag McKendrick Pippin has an Indian character.  Its set in WW2.  She also wrote Blood Moon over Bengal which I think is set in India.

It's a wishlisted book and has over 30 people on the list, but the first half of The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran is set in India.  And it's a great book too.  One of a very select few that I bought new this year, and was really glad I did.

The Far Pavillions by M.M. Kaye is a wonderful romance set in India.  (However, it's very long, over 1000 pages, and it's more of a historical epic than a traditional romance, following the hero from childhood through adulthood.)  But I loved it, and I've looked for books set in India ever since.  The heroine is Indian and the hero is raised as an Indian, although he's actually British.  She also wrote a couple of other books set in India, including Shadow of the Moon which was very romantic and is my favorite by this author, but I think both the hero and heroine were English in that one.

I also enjoyed Zemindar by Valerie Fitzgerald (who never wrote another book!) but I think both characters were English in that one as well.

I have a book titled Aesthetic Vedanta: The Sacred Path of Passionate Love. Here's a link to the amazon reviews. Let me know if you're interested.
