From the back cover…
Fleeing Naples in disguise, the Countess of Gladsbury arrives at his room in the dead of night, never feeling more helpless or in need of him in her life. Now, as she desperately seeks freedom from a cruel and dangerous marriage, who could be a better ally than the darkly handsome and discreet solicitor who’d kept all her secrets? He had always been her defender, her knight in shining armor. But one moment of reckless passion changes everything, and Pen realizes that no man could have been a mare dangerous choice of champion than Julian Hampton. She was his first, last, and only love, but even now, holding her as he always dreamed, Julian can’t tell her the truth. Instead he must play the cool protector once again. For each stolen kiss, every forbidden embrace, could expose them to an enemy out to destroy them both-and to a love that would become a romantic legend…
How romantic! When I read Julian's first love letter I just had to stop, close my eyes and savor the moment. Ahh, to have such a letter written to me...The villian was a nasty piece of work, just enough to keep things suspenseful. The ending scene was very appropriate to the title. A great love story!
