ohh My GOD! I couldn't put it down, and I cried and Cried for Julian throughout the book. It is SOOOO appropriatley named. You really need to pick this up if you have forgotten what real romance is !
Julian is a staunch hero and Penelope is an independent and caring heroine
London a wonderful setting and the family a true clan Even the villian is carved out well
Madeline is a winner FMK
How romantic! When I read Julian's first love letter I just had to stop, close my eyes and savor the moment. Ahh, to have such a letter written to me...The villian was a nasty piece of work, just enough to keep things suspenseful. The ending scene was very appropriate to the title. A great love story!
Good read! Finally glad to see this story wrapped up, been wanting to know more throughout the previous books.
HE HAD ALWAYS BEEN HER DEFENDER,HER KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR. BUT ONE MOMENT OF RECKLESS PASSION CHANGES EVERYTHING.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!
Such a wonderful series- Book 5, Julian's story
Difficult to get into the first chapter but then it becomes a book you cannot put down.
Another excellent historical romance. It is long but enjoyable to read.
I've enjoyed this entire series of books ... this is the 5th book, and my favorite!
Another great book by Madeline Hunter
I absolutly love this author and adore this series. I highly recommend it.
Great novel, part of a six-book series of friends (two are brothers). These men are fantastic characters, absolutely lovable!
Good historical Romance novel.
England, probably Regency era. Continuing saga of Laclerc family members/friends. Their sister, Penelope, the Countess of Glasbury, after having left her violent, perverted husband ten years earlier, is now being pursued by him, the Earl of Glasbury, because he wants her back for his perverted pleasure and also for a much-needed heir. Penelope's knight in shining armor is Julian Hampton, her solicitor, who was the childhood friend/playmate of Penelope and her siblings. Madeline Hunter has again crafted a wonderful love story. I read everything she writes.
The title belies the darkness at the core of Hunter's Regency romance cum legal thriller, the fifth in a series that started with The Seducer. Penelope, countess of Glasbury, has been separated for years from her abusive husband, who has yet to sire an heir and now demands the return of his wayward wife. Penelope seeks help from Julian Hampton, family friend and solicitor, who has long hidden his own passion for Penelope. Her appeal forces them into an irresistible proximity. As the earl's demands grow more insistentand violentJulian and Penelope must uncover her estranged husband's deepest secrets if she is ever to be free of him.
If you are a fan of Madeline Hunter, you will definitely enjoy this book.

Love it very much. So well read, and sat in bookshelf so long the cover seperated from the book, but both are in great condition, honestly.
