here's a link from this same kinda thread I started over 2 years ago!  http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=44579#

hold on and I'll search for some more..I did a 'search this forum on the button above and subject only for 'romantic suspense'

http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=151830  here's one Gina started earlier this year

I've found after reading some romantic suspense that Idon't handle it too well LOL!

Shannon Butcher has a trilogy (no regrets, no control, no escape), I like LInda Howard, some of Suzanne Brockmann's..gosh there areTONS of romantic suspense authors to the pt it seems  hard to find anything that's not! Lisa Marie Riceisgood but erotic romance..Marliss Melton(only read one by  her),elizabeth lowellhassome named after gems startingwith Amber Beach I think.

While Susanna is searching, I can tell you the ones I've read and enjoyed:

Pamela Clare - I-Team series

Cindy Gerard - Bodyguards/Black Ops series

Shannon K. Butcher

Unexpected - Lori Foster

Shannon McKenna - anything, but especially the McCloud Brothers series

Lora Leigh - Tempting SEALs/Elite Ops

I second Shannon Butcher. I would also recommend:

Karen Rose - although her body count can get pretty far out, but her heroines are always tough.

Brenda Novak - she usually writes in trilogy format and i buy each one like candy!

Holly Lisle - Holly writes romantic suspense with a paranormal twist, but always really good

Sandra Brown - the romance aspect can be iffy in her books, but the suspense is usually really good. Unless you go with like Mirror Image or something  older.

Tami Hoag(anything prior to Night Sins) will be a good balance of romance and suspense.

Laura Griffin - she is a new to me author, just recently, but her books have been awesome!

Julia Spencer-Fleming - Her Clare Fergusson-Russ Van Alstyne mysteries are soooo good, but the romance....you just have to read the books in order to understand.

Wendy Roberts - She is just getting started writing her Ghost Duster Mysteries, but the books are more than worth the wait. Does have a paranormal aspect.

Susan Cradall - she is a good romantic suspense writer who doesn't get the airplay she deserves.

Of course Karen Robards and Linda Howard are givens. That will do for now. :-)

Pamela Clare's I-Team series!! I almost forgot.

I've enjoyed several romantic suspense authors including many of the ones already mentioned.  Have you tried Carla Neggers.  She writes several different series including ones featuring US Marshals and Texas Rangers.  Also JoAnn Ross has the High Risk Series.  I think there are four:  Freefall, Crossfire, Shattered and Breakpoint.  All involve ex Special Forces guys.  I liked them a lot.  Then there is Elizabeth Lowell, Mariah Stewart and Lisa Jackson.  Happy Reading!

I LOVE romantic suspense but have found it difficult to find authors I really like. I recently tried shannon butcher and thought it was awful (no offense to those who love her). My very favorites are Shannon Mckenna (burning sensuality in case thats something you don't like), Suzanne Brockmann, Linda Howard and Sandra Brown. I also enjoy but don't LOVE LOVE, Elizabeth Lowell, some earlier Tami Hoag, and some Karen Robards.

I have recently been reading some gothic thrillers and while they aren't romantic suspense, I have really enjoyed the mystery, thriller in a historic period romance. Eve Silver is super great, scary and sexy. I just finished Seduced By a Stranger and I couldn't put it down!

Loucinda McGary has two great ones:

WILD SIGHT and

TREASURES OF VENICE

hunky alpha Irish heroes with American smarty pants heroines.

Wild Sight is set in Ireland and includes a little helping of paranormal. Publisher's Weekly gave it 4 Stars.

The Treasures of Venice is a wonderful action-mystery with hot developments.

Give Loucinda McGary a try!
