Well I talked myself into going this year to the conv. in Orlando! Now I can't wait. IS anyone else going or at least going to the bookfair?  A lot of people I know are not going this year .  While I am going to miss them I can't help to think in my greedy lil head "More books for ME!"   It seems that a few of the big writers are not going to be there this year.  Charlaine Harris is not coming. J.R Ward is not coming (last year I did not even know who she was)   Kresley Cole is not coming (the one year she was to come and had a table set up, she did not come :( ).

After this year I plan on taking a brake and not go for a year or two.   If you are going or thinking about going PM me. This will be my 5th convention. They are sooo much fun.    Plus I plan on doing the parks after.

I'm not planning on going but I'm just curious.  What goes on at the convention?  I'd love to hear about it.

I would love to go, but I can't see sqeaking out the money for it this year.  They always look like a blast though.

What Kim said.      Seems like these conventions are also always too far away for me to go to, besides being on days I have to work.  :-(

I wish I'd known about it last year or the year before when it was here in Houston :-( probably take forever to be here again. I'd love to plan on going one year though!

I do want to go, but like everyone else, I don't have the money or the vacation time available, nor do I have anyone to go with.  It looks like a lot of fun, plus I hear you get tons of free books.

It would be great if a bunch of us could go one year & hang out together though, wouldn't it?  I'd be willing to bunk up with a couple of people to save some $ on the hotel room.  Travel expenses can be pricey depending on where it is though.  In my other life as a cosmetologist, I used to go to hairdo conventions & we'd buddy up, 3 or 4 people to a room & we always had a great time.  They hired male strippers one year for the last night of the event - which worked, because hairdressers are usually women or gay men:P

When you click on the link go to workshops and events and you can see everything that is planed for each day.  They have sooo much going on at the same time its really hard to pick what you want to go to.   The workshops are really fun. The parties are sooo much fun. This year though I don't plan on dressing for the parties.  You get tons of free books.  They have a goody bag room where you can get an x amount of books. Most of the parties and socials give you books and stuff. I only bought like 4 books at the bookfair because a lot of the books I wanted I ended up getting free.   I mailed home 2 big boxes of books and 1 big box of stuff.  I also use my carryon for books.     Oh my goodness I can't start on the gift baskets that you can win!!!! They are fantastic!!

I know what you mean about nobody to go with.  I use to take my vac. with my BFF and then she got married.  Now I go to the conventions....alone.     I thought "I am going to be sooo alone"   Trust me it did not happen!!! And I am not a person that goes up to people and just talk to them.  But it is next to impossible not to make friends.

I'd be up for that, esp if it was somewhere close enough that I could drive it (so somewhere in the middle of the US, as opposed to on one of the coasts).

I would love to go for the weekend it would be my first one, I went to the site and I'm not sure about the prices, what exactly do you get? I'm not an aspiring writer or anything like that I just like read books :)  Can anyone who has been to them kind of explain it to me? I would appreciate it.
