I quit reading this after about 50 pages. There is a metaphor in just about every paragraph of what I read.Somewhere in between all the metaphors there is a snippet of a story but it is hardly worth the effort of trying to search it out.I don't think I have ever been so irritated by an author's style of writing before. There are some pretty good reiews of this book on Amazon but I say to use your credit on something worthwhile!

Charming. Introspective. I liked it so much that I plan to read Carrie Brown's other novels. The start is a little slow going, but stick with it for a very interesting read.

Just could not get into it. The beginning pages drag along like a runner slogging across a swamp; just too bogged down to make much headway. I've read other books by Carrie Brown (Confinement, Lamb in Love) but this was just too tedious, even after 50 pages. Too bad, I really liked the description in the flyleaf.
