Hey y'all -  I know some of you guys have read this series and said it was very good, I have the 2nd and 3rd in the series but am having an awful lot of trouble find the 1st one, The Beast, for a reasonable price ($99!!!).   What is up with that?!  I am considering just forgetting that that one exists and just get started on the ones that I have.  If you have read it, am I going to miss out on something important if I start with book 2?

THANK YOU!

Well, I always read books in order so I'm probably not one to answer...plus, I haven't read this series although I do have the first one on my TBR....$99 huh? Holy crap!

I had noticed that the second or third in the series has either been nominated for or won some award, so I'm thinking that probably the first one will go into reprint sometime soon. Sorry that doesn't really answer your question.

Thankfully, the crisis has been averted (Yay Tammy!)

Cheryl, maybe you can sell yours for $98?!

There is a used copy on Amazon for $67 for the paperback version...a bargain! LOL I'll probably be getting to this one soon and will likely just post it to PBS when I'm done.

Dumb question, but what info was provided about the 1st book. All I could find online was a future translation date. Is there a advanced copy floating around of THE BEAST?

According to the info I could find, the only books that are in English are:

THE VAULT   and  THREE SECONDS. It also looks like there is a movie of THREE SECONDS?

Mary, I think it has to do with where you look - the info I got came from fantasticfiction.com:  The Beast (2005), Box 21/The Vault (2007), Three Seconds (2010) and Cell 8 (2011).  Sometimes stopyourekillingme has more/accurate info and sometimes fantasticfiction does...

Carol,

THanks. Sometimes those publish dates are confusing. I have almost ordered a book on Amazon that was in a foreign language.
