A couple weeks ago I had a wish list book become available, but after accepting it the request was denied because of my RC of wanting hard cover books with their dust cover, if they were intended to have one. This book didn't have the dust cover.

Yesterday the book became available again, I accepted, request denied, same reason. I'm assuming if it was offered to someone else it was also rejected. How long will this book keep circulating?

I don't know if there's any way PBS could make it so that if that book was rejected once it wouldn't be offered again to the same person. But I guess it would be impossible for them to know it that person is offering the same book that was rejected or if they happened to have another copy that would meet the RC.

Hopefully someone will accept it and then it will be done.

The system already works the way you describe. You won't be offered the same copy of a book again by the same person unless that person removes the book from the system by clicking I Cannot Mail and then reposts it. It may be that she cancelled the request after yours out of confusion and then reposted it. Sometimes new senders don't understand how rollovers work and think that the new request they see is from the same person who has conditions, so they cancel. Or it could be there are two different senders, especially if this is a book that never had a dust cover.

If you are offered a hardcover book that was not issued with a dust jacket, just turn off your RC before requesting it, that way it won't interfere with the request being accepted. Some members will turn down all RCs, whether they are relevant or not.

You shouldn't be offered the same book twice by the same sender unless it was relisted.

What Sally said,
Some members will turn down all RCs, whether they are relevant or not.

Unfortunately, this is true. It does not matter what the RC says, some members automatically reject all RCs, without even bothering to look at them.

No, the book does have a dust cover, they stated something about the dust cover being gone and also something else with the condition, I can't remember right now.

Anyway, I received this email from PBS today:

Your Wish List request for the book 'The Christmas Dog' by Melody Carlson was declined recently because of your Requestor Conditions.

Normally when this happens the book will go back onto your Wish List. But in this case, the book has been put onto your Reminder List, because this copy of the book has not yet found a requestor. Either all of the wishing members for this book have requestor conditions the book doesn't meet; OR they all declined the Wish List offer of the book; OR you were the only one on the Wish List for the book.

Because of one of the situations above, we have had to move this book from your Wish List to your Reminder List. The reason for this is that a currently available book cannot be on a Wish List.

Will I keep my place in line for the book?  How will I know when I can put it back on my wish list?  Right now on the Reminder List, it states no copies available.

There is no line, so there's no place for you to keep or lose. The system is telling you that there's a copy available and you cannot wish for it again until there are no copies posted. There's no notification process for "you can now wish for this book again", so you just need to keep on trying.

Since the system says no copies available you can wish for now.
