Rudy Rucker.

He's a new author for me. But his books look awesome! I just don't know which one of his books is a good introductory book to read before all the rest.  He has so many! I could start out with his early stuff, but I'm not sure whether it matters. I'm really into the science part of it, more than anything else. I want to get a grip on the concepts. His fiction would be good, but only if I can understand the science. I don't want the science part of his novels it to be over my head.

Are there any Rudy Rucker fans out there that could help me out?

Much thanks!

Rudy Rucker is pretty far out there.  I have only read some of his short stories and the first three of his Ware books.  The first (Software) was probably his most highly acclaimed book, and I'd recommend starting with that one.  His science is extremely speculative, so I'm not sure how much you really need to understand.  If you've read the drug-induced surreal fiction of Philip K. Dick, you might get an idea of Rucker's style.  I think the books are supposed to be over everyone's head in the sense of it being so weirdly unlike anything the reader would be familiar with.

Rudy Rucker's science intrigues me. I am a fan of quantum physics. I've read Alice in Quantumland. It was difficult, but a lot of fun.

Thanks for the recommendation smiley I'm going to see if it's available here.

Is there anyone else that has advise? Keep it coming.

You might get more responses in the science fiction forum, but I have to say he's probably considered a bit obscure even by most science fiction fans these days.

I just received the book you recommended: "Software. First chapter, very good! Very pleasing style.

Thanks for the recommend! And thank for telling me about the sci-fi forum!
