This book was written in 1943 so you know it is a good wholesome entertaining story for chidlren. Rufus Moffat is something else. He does things his way!
Rufus teaches himself to 'write' when he doesnt' even know how to read.
Living in the 40's there were hard times. Rufus plants his own 'rufus beans' and they really grow even though they are dug up daily to check them!
He has imaginary friends, flying horses and even one friend called the Cardboard boy.
This book is part of Estes's lovable Moffat stories. A good read for kids and for adults for childhood memories.
