Has anybody heard that this site is for sale? Maybe new owners taking over soon.

Where in the world would you hear a rumor about PBS being for sale!? Incredulous but very curious too...

Oh, yes, that was the first thing I checked; I couldn't understand how it would've changed all by itself but I checked it anyway & I'm still set to receive all communications.  I had heard this site was up for sale and seems like you can kinda tell that by the stuff happening...

this is a post in the standard members forum.

I'll go out on a limb and say I don't think it's for sale.

We can confirm that there is nothing to this rumor! Not up for sale, no new owners, you're stuck with us. :)

Happy New Year, everyone!

Charles said... Has anybody heard that this site is for sale? Maybe new owners taking over soon.

The Team said... We can confirm that there is nothing to this rumor! Not up for sale, no new owners, you're stuck with us. :)

So, when the paid membership came about, when so many were upset to learn that ALCs would be denied a voice on the forums and were exercising ours to say as much, nearly begging for some kind of reasonable discourse, we were told that TPTB don't monitor these forums and the only way to effectively voice our concerns and preferences for trading and how things should be around here is by sending in Feedback but Charles starts a thread wondering about rumor that the site is for sale at 4 in the afternoon on the 3rd and The Team responds to refute it before noon the following day.

The false rumor started by the member in the Standard Members forum needed to be addressed quickly. I'm sure many members were using the Contact Us to see if that was happening.

The team does a good job with the forum when someone posts spam or other inappropriate messages. They don't need to follow the posts just look when someone alerts them to an issue.

The 8 1/2 Laws of Rumor Spread

I have not seen the original comment in the Standard Forum because I am a Limited Member.  I don't know the whole story.

A team member came to this forum at 10:24 AM and created a thread about the Comcast email problem. One possibility is that he took a look around, noticed this thread, which was at or near the top of the page, and responded to it two minutes later at 10:26 AM.

Another possibility is the one Rebecca pointed out where the team has said repeatedly that they will read a thread when people send them feedback with specific concerns. Usually they just delete spam posts or begging posts or edit when someone has posted a private address or phone number, but it's not entirely unheard of for them to respond to a thread once or twice a year.

Or it could be a giant conspiracy and they really spend 80% of their time reading everything in every forum and they completely outed themselves by being unable to resist responding to this one.

I guess everyone will go with whichever theory makes the most sense to them.
