Because of the postage increases I am cutting back on shipping individual books, so started a 4 books for 2 credit special for a week to hopefully clean off my shelf.  The problem is you can't stop requests for single books from coming in.

I wish there was a way to put a hold on individual requests for a short time when you are running a special as I hate to deny requests, but I want to do the special and clean off my shelf.

Any ideas?  Susie

Sorry I got stuck on increase and forgot to answer your question. No there is no way to stop an individual request. What you can do is send a pm to a person who orders an individual request from you to offer them the deal.

I agree with Chris, offer the same deal to whoever requests the individual book.  =)

Offer the deal to whoever requests a book, but I wouldn't turn down the requests if they don't want to take part in your deal. The site is 1credit=1book. Someone shouldn't really have to spend 2 credits to get a book from you if they really don't have them or want more books. I would think that R&R would be contacting you if you turn down to many requests because they were single book requests.

I've seen people post in the book bazaar 4 for 2 then list the books or post a group of them and list maybe one of them on their s helf to be ordered and the others sent..sometimes I just dont' see more than the 1 book on someone's shelf though(and I look pretty hard!)

I rarely find more than 2 books on someones shelf that I want.  2 for 1 is a good enough deal for me usually.  I have so many books I'm starting to get choosey about the ones I order on here.  You can't turn down requests because they haven't ordered "enough" books.  You can PM them and offer the 4 for 2 deal.  If you turn down the request the book will be removed from your shelf and then you have to repost it and lose your place in the FIFO line.  The only time you don't is if you turn it down because they have book conditions you can't meet.

I only have 20 books left on the my list, and then I am going to stop sending for a while.  We have a new library that has paperbacks cheap, 50 cents and another that has a book swap area.  So, I thought I would offer the last 20 books at 4 for 2 credits just to clean off my shelf.

I didn't want to get in trouble for not shipping books, so that is why I wanted to see if there was a way to do this.  So far 4 books have gone out and hopefully a few will find 4 books they want.  It is only for a week anyway, then after that I will just put the list on hold.

Thanks, Susie

You can always just pick out another book from your shelf and send it along to the person that requests a single book.  If they don't want the extra book, they can always repost it.  I often include another book with requests, some are from my unpostable pile and some are similar to what's requested that I think the person may like.
