Saw the new trailer tonight during Superbowl commercials & thought this was the right place to drop the bomb:

Can't wait to watch the trailer when I get to work with a GOOD connection. Anything with Russell, I'm SO THERE. If there was any justice in the world, there would be a sequel to Master & Commander, because he as Jack Aubrey is one of the best things I've ever seen.

This is Ridley Scott & Russell Crowe doing Robin Hood, so I imagine it's going to be a lot darker than anything we've seen before.  Not a Prince of Thieves anyway...  I had just about thrown in the towel on Russell making anymore action films, so this one hit me out of left field & had me practically peeing down my leg.  And btw, he's looking pretty hot for a pudgy old guy:P

I saw this too.  I don't usually go to movie theaters, but I might have to make an exception.

OH yes I am there with all of you Russell Crowe finally back in the action arena and I think Robin Hood is perfect!  He looks like he must have been hitting the gym again.  I can't tell you how many times I have watched Gladiator!  ;)

My DH laughs because I think Russell is so hot, & he's like "But he's an old chubby dude, just like me.".  And I say yeah, but he's Russell Crowe:P  I don't imagine he's ever going to be back to his Quick & the Dead hotness, but I can't even see him doing an interview on TV without drooling.  There's just something about him...

yes, saw the trailer on the SuperBowl and went "oh,yeah...I'm there".  However, it may not be a completely dark collaboration between Scott and Crowe.  The pair did one of my favorite Russell movies "A Good Year".  Completely delicious and not dark at all.  And the voice gets me too-esp. when he talks about his boys-I'm a total puddle.

I'm guessing because the obligatory shot of him firing an arrow has him with blood running down his face.  Not that I care - it's Russell Crowe playing Robin Hood and that's cause for a happy dance - so I'll be there with bells on, bloody or not.  I'm worried about our Susanna being able to watch it though:P

Russell Crowe could play the garbage man and I would buy a ticket!   He is my ideal Hero.  Not the only one, but definitely one of the top three.  I cried and cried over Gladiator!

Jan, I second the praise for "A Very Good Year." I normally don't like those light romancy comedies, but this one had me watching it and loving it.

I might be alone here in thinking he was still drool-worthy in The Insider. Something about the eyes - even pudgy in that role, the eyes and body language just slay me.

Nope-I liked him too in "The Insider" Karla. It's one of the things I like best about him. He can do lighter roles and really intense stuff and it still and it still "works" for me. Another thing-my dh likes his roles too...so I can drool and dh gets to enjoy the movie and we're both happy campers.....

I guess, meaning that his roles usually appeal to guys too-it's not so completely obvious that he(dh) is going just 'cause I "dragged" him to it,yanno?

one of the theaters around here does Flashback movies on Thursday nights for $5, and they list the schedule for about 3 months at a time. it's been probably a year or so since the last time i went, but they've got a whole good batch coming up. i went and saw Dirty Dancing last night, which was really fun. (i cannot tell you how many times my friends & i went to see that when it was new, right down to the last week it was there and the three of us were the only ones at the showing.)

but the point is, i've already got plans for the night of March 18, as that's when Gladiator will be showing. :) DH might even come with me!

CANNOT WAIT for this movie! Great cast, plus I love the Robin Hood story. I've also been a big Russell Crowe fan for a very long time, since I first saw him in "Romper Stomper" circa 1992. He can be a pr*ck but he's a fantastic actor. I wish the new Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin movie (also a big fan of Paul Bettany). And I'm with Kim, there's something about him that makes me all warm and mushy, whether he's a tubby or all lean and mean. ;)

God, if I had to put a lid on my fangirling because of an s.o., I'd just DIE. The squee must not be contained! It's unhealthy.

Hilarious camp horror. But now I'll be watching for pirrahna furballs to be invading Sherwood.

So, did anyone see this yet? I did. Loved it. It was fun picking out where I'd seen a couple of the cast before. Scott Grimes(Will Scarlet) was also in Mystery, Alaska with Mr. Crowe as was the guy who played Little John. And Russell was definitely in hunky mode. But did anyone else notice the usually hunky Mathew McFadden(MI-5 and P & P) as the ineffectual, cowardly Sheriff of Nottingham? Anyway...it was a fabulous escape for a couple of hours....

Has anyone (besides me, 427,000 times) seen him in 3:10 to Yuma, where he plays a delicious bad guy? Whoh mama!

I totally loved 3:10 to Yuma, and yes, he's still got the stuff, I don't care how old, chubby & domesticated he gets, I'll always see him in The Quick and The Dead, where he had me positively swooning:P And Gladiator... oh, my... Haven't seen Robin Hood yet & passed up going to the drive-in to see it this past weekend. I haven't been back there, or on that same stretch of road to there since that horrible wreck last summer (we were on the way there to see Transformers 2 when it happened), and I'm finding it difficult to make that drive again. Think I will get the DH to go to a matinee with me this weekend to see it, but I want to see Iron Man 2 as well.

i saw it this afternoon, and thought it was ok. but i'm sorry to say, i still like the Kevin Costner one better.

oh, and DH pretty much hated it. he was miming scratching his eyes out before we were even halfway through. i'm not sure how other guys would feel about it...

it did seem like they were setting up for a sequel, which i'd probably go see. probably have to go my myself though. ;)
