Just finished Some by Fire and A Very Private Murder, both D.I. Charlie Priest Mysteries by Stuart Pawson.  It's a very enjoyable series set in Yorkshire, England.

I am reading The Concubine's Tattoo by Laura Joh Rowland. Very good mystery set in 1690 Japan. She does a good job of capturing Japanese culture of teh time. Good characters and mysteries.

I think I just shipped The Concubine;s Tattoo to somebody. Was that you?

No it wasn't you. I just found it and it is still in the mail. I have some other of the Rowland books on my shelf.

I am on the last book in a series written by Marion Chesney set in Edwardian England.  There are four of them, they mysteries are good and the author gives great information about how it was to live in that period.  They are fast reads.  The only thing that bothers me with them is that the MC, with all the romantic tension going on between her and her 'fiance,' makes Hannah Swenson's vacillations look very tame.  :)  The books are; 'Snobbery with Violence,' 'Hasty Death,' Sick of Shadows,' and 'Our lady of Pain.  Becky ~ if you haven't read these I think you would really like them.

Down a Dark Road          Linda Castillo --- the most recent installment in the series where the female sheriff is former Amish in Ohio

Watery Grave                 Bruce Alexander --- another in the Sir John Fielding series --- these books, though old, are superbly written

I am enjoying one of my favorite historical cozy series

On Her Majesty's Frightfully Secret Service by Rhys Bowen

Delightful series. Love the characters, Rhys Bowen has done a great job developing them over time. Series is a lot of fun. You could pop in anytime but It think it is better to start with book 1.

I'm also reading that one right now and also love the series. So well written.

Just finished Dead Storage by Mary Feliz and didn't care for it as much as the other two in the series.

I am starting a series, of which I have the first four books, the Mainely Needlepoint series by Lea Wait.  I ordered these because I love the other series she writes, the Shadow series.  Mid way through book 1 and finding I really love it.  The setting is of course, Maine, and so far she has been spot on about where things actually are.  She wrote this in 2015, so they are all current. Will be interesting how she does throughout the series.  If she tries to put mayonnaise on an Italian sandwich....................

Packed up all my books months ago thinking I would be moving soon. Still here in Phoenix, and now have my fingers crossed to move in October. Love Story With Murders by Harry Bingham came from my wish list, which is now on hold. It's 2nd in Fiona Griffiths series set in Wales. She's a detective who has a rare mental condition that makes her feel more in tune with the dead than the living. She's called to a scene where a human leg was found in a freezer. More body parts start showing up, and they're not all from the same person. This installment was a little slow in the beginning but eventually picked up steam.

this is a pretty old book but enjoyable for me. The Caveman's Valentine by George Dawes Green. I think it came out about 1995.

I am reading Perilous Undertaking by Deanna Raymond set in 1894. Very enjoyable. Veronica our lead character is quite spunky.

Hello All --- Cannot remember where I left off with my readling list????

Timber Beasts                                   S.L. Stoner                MC is an agent (secret) for the Labor Unions in Portland, Oregon.  Time is turn of the century.  Although not a fan of Labor Unions, this was a time in history when they acutually had a purpose.  First is a series and I enjoyed it.

What Lies Behind                               J.T. Ellison                 An installment in the series with the M.E. turned FBI consultant.  Was fine and certainly left me knowing there will be another.

Slave Graves                                      Thomas Hollyday        MC is an archeaologist professor on assignment in the State of Maryland where a construction project has turned up an old ship.  Not very far in, but seems worth continuing.  Seems to be first in a series.

I finished the second book in the Mainely Needlepoint series and am happy to report I like it as well as the first book.  I'm taking a break now and reading a new Nero Wolfe book, 'Murder Stage Left'  written by Robert Goldsborough.  He does a very good job of continuing on with the series Rex Stout began in the 50's.  Love reading them!

Started and finished a book today --- "The Branson Bell" by Claire Booth.  For anyone near Branson, Missouri, or familiar with the place, the information in this book is pretty on target.  A Kansas City Sheriff has been appointed sheriff in Branson --- on it goes.  Was not expecting the bad guy at all.

All my mysteries are packed, so I'm working my way through Bernard Cornwell's Saxon series on which The Last Kingdom TV series is based. Saxon vs Vikings. Interesting fictional plot lines woven around historical facts. Just started book 5 of 10.

I just finished "Fever in the Blood", the third installment of the Frey & McGray series by Oscar de Muriel.  I thought this one was going to get the series going a bit too paranormal for me, but in the end the explanations concerning witches were very interesting.  Some of the story was based on facts from the Reformation.  If you are not reading this one, it is set in Edinburgh 1889, with a Scot detective (McGray) and one banished from Scotland Yard (Frey).  One really does need to begin with the first book.
