This large, hardbound book with dustcover is chock full of color photos, illustrations and maps, all relating to the transatlantic slave trade of the 17th century. Although the subject matter is tragic, the book itself is stunningly beautiful. The first part of the book discusses the rise of trans-Atlantic trade. Later chapters involve the slave coast of Africa, the horrors of "The Middle Passage" across the Atlantic on slave ships, and arrival in America. The case of the Amistad Mutiny is also mentioned.
