I hope this is the correct place to post this?

I got some cooking ones, thank you :)

But still need a book about the history of art/painting. You know, like cave drawings, egyptian hieroglyphics, renaissances, impressionism, modern art. With lots of kid friendly photos.

Thanks, Kristy

Thank you for the reply. I was hoping to get another homeschooled child to reinforce that there are others out there. Right now all her local friends are in private or public school. And she is feeling "left out". We are about to start Co-Op, so that should help. Anyway...thanks again for the reply. Kristy

The Usborne cooking ones for kids are good.  We have owned and loved several, and it looks like several are in the system currently (not on my shelf).

Kristy, I had that problem with my oldest daughter when she was four. We had never even talked about sending her to school, but suddenly she started talking about her excitement at going. I questioned her to find out what she was looking forward to (art class!), and signed her up for some art classes. I also joined a support group, we made lots of great friends, and she has never complained again about not going to school. She's 18 now!

It sounds like you're doing the right thing.

Also - on art books for kids - I don't know how old your daughter is, but my kids liked the book series with titles like, "What makes a Bruegel a Bruegel"?

Hi Kristy,

Usborne has some great books on cooking and on art. I sell Usborne so we have quite a few. Our favorites for art are the Art Treasury and Book of Famous Paintings.  For Cooking, my daughter likes Usborne First Skills - Starting Cooking.

There is also a Home Education series by Pearables that is fun called Lessons in Responsibility for Girls.

Also, my daughter is 7, she might like a penpal, if you are still looking. :)

Right now my books are all buried in garage sale boxes.  When I price them today, I'll look for art & cooking books for you.  I *know* I have some!

I just looked and none of these are available right now, but try getting the "Come Look With Me" series of art books.

All the great art books are most likely WL'd.  I LOVE the Usborne Internet-Linked ones and the Come Look, How Artists See, and Mike Venezia books - but they'll be hard to find here.  :-)

Hopefully the books you ordered from me will get you going a bit. ;-)
