I just got a sales pitch from a member here who sells jewelry?  I'm not interested, but feel that I have been spammed. What is PBS's view on this?

If it was an unsolicited PM that was only a pitch for the jewelry, I don't think that's allowed. Now earlier this year, I posted a request for some beaded lanyard sources, and one person PM'd me about her business rather than posting a public reply in the forums. I didn't think that was wrong, because I did request sources for the item in question. Is there a possibility that you posted something that would have brought about the PM?

I got a similar one too, some time ago.  I ignored it.  Not suggesting you do the same.  Just sharing what I did.

If it was totally unsolicitated, meaning, as Jane says, nothing you said on any forum prompted her to think you might be interested in his/her jewelry, then absolutely, please report the member to R&R. We are not even supposed to promote our businesses in our sig lines, excepting in the most descrete way (link only, no extra promoting text) , therefore, I'm sure PM'ng people about your business is totally against the rules.

Was this someone you had a transaction with? If it was then I'd pm them back and let them this is against PBS rules.  If it was just out of the blue I'd report it to PBS.  I know I wouldn't want to log on everyday to find sales pitches in my PMs.  I get enough of that in my email.

I got it too - but I think of her as a friend because we play in the swaps, so I didn't think anything of it.

Same here, Rhonda.  I think she might have Pm'd some people on her Buddy List.

I have never experienced this type of thing but I did find this in the Help Center....

I took it as a PM from a friend, not a solicatation only.

I also took it as a PM from a friend.  Most of us play in the swaps together and I didn't consider it any different than a general conversation in a swap.
