This is a beautiful book. It teaches children to recognize their talents which may be different from other's talents. And it teaches showing friendship and kindness to a class mate when others make fun of them.

In a nutshell the library roof is leaking and Samantha proposes and organizes very well a talent show of the students to get funds to re-roof the library. Because of Samantha's diligence and planning 100 tickets are sold and a lot of money is raised for the library. Samantha gets caught up in the idea and organizing the library fund raiser that she never gets a chance to perform in the show! She becomes a little discouraged but is so busy and in the end does find an unexpected talent that she never realized she had. The craft is learning to juggle and A PEEK INTO THE PAST covers vaudeville shows and entertainment prior to television.
