I recieved a book last week that I was very excited to get. The book had recently (last year or so) been republished with a new cover. The book listed on PBS had the old cover. I didnt care either way (though I do think the old cover looks better than the new) and ordered the book. It arrived, a book dressed in the new cover. Exact same ISBN but the new cover rather than the old one. As I said, I dont really care and I marked the book as recieved with no problem.

I personally dont care that much about getting a different cover but I started getting nervous about sending it back out. What if I repost it, under the same ISBN which shows the old cover, and someone orders that one, wanting the old cover? What if they are not pleased when I send the new covered book? Im not sure what I can do since the ISBNs of both covers are the exact same. Any thoughts for me? Could I be in danger of sending this book out and getting marked as RWP?

Per the PBS rules, the covers do NOT have to match here at PBS. If the ISBN is the same, it's considered the correct cook.

Some ISBNs even come in different sizes, both the trade and the MMPB having the same number.  Has to do with the publisher and how many numbers they bought.   As long as you check the ISBN, then you are clear.   The problem comes when folks post from the author list and don't check.  If someone wants a specific cover to match a set, it should be their responsibility to ask about it.

ANd no you don't have to PM people to let them know that the cover is different.

It happened to me once with a book I was sending out...I did PM her, and she said she didn't care.  It was wierd too, because the covers were only slightly different.  It wasn't a reissue.
