It is my sad duty to inform you Ms Feehan has become formulaic.
The Ghostwalkers novels can be resumed as this:
A- Young woman with enhancements is out in the world **add angst because of mistreatment by \\EVIL// Dr. Whitney**.
B- Ghostwalker dude meets young woman (A). Sparks ensue, cupid's arrow finds mark. **add 2-3 pages of \\wanting that piece of ass but I am a soldier and can and will keep this inside me//**.
C- Evil doers rear up ugly head **add 3-7 pages of memories/introversion by woman (A) and soldier (B) of \\EVIL// Dr. Peter Whitney; add more angst**.
D- Description of enhancements on subjects (A) and (B) and how they fit together. **add 5-8 pages of explanation of how \\EVIL// Dr. Whitney managed the incredible feat of genetic pairing between woman (A) and soldier (B). Also, description of awesome sex between (A) ad (B)**.
E- Conflict throws woman (A) and soldier (B) together, where they find they ~fit~ (refer to D). **add 3-5 more pages of awesome sex between (A) and (B), usually after or while they are in a combat situation**.
F- Other Ghostwalkers come to the rescue; evil is defeated, \\EVIL// Dr. Whitney and/or minions escape. Ghostwalkers-wanna-be's forming army protecting EVIL Dr W and/or minions die.
G- Woman (A) and soldier (B) make vows of eternal love and celebrate with more awesome sex.

There. I just wrote you a Ghostwalker novel.
Just fill in the blanks.

I will say I am thankful Ms. Feehan decided to explain the myriad acronyms used by the armed forces.

This is better than the last GhostWalker book - Ruthless Game. We meet Thorn and get to know Sam better. The "Let's take down Whitney" plot gets a big jolt of action.

As with past GhostWalker books, it has a couple of fighting sequences, a couple of sex scenes, but a lot more plot and story arc development than in the past 4 books. We also get an update on most of the Team 1 and 2 families, plus a bonus meet with Daniel - Ryland and Lily's son.

A few Amazon reviewers complained about too much talking. But I really enjoyed seeng more moves of that big story arc - GhostWalkers against Dr. Whitney and his cabal - take place, along with a couple of surprises emerge. Thorn has a few surprises for Dr. Whitney, Sr., as payback for her childhood traumas.

BTW. The relationship takes a slightly different development path than the prior books - not as much antagonism and more angst. That said, the scene in Sam's cabin went a little too smoothly given her emotional scars. Hence the 4 stars.

I enjoyed it. Good story line. Some of the "mature" sections went on a few pages too long; way past making the point. I'd have thought one could not write sex scenes of 10 or 12 pages or more long, but Ms Feehan accomplishes this. Not that I minded, I'm just sayn' ..... I may go try other of the "Game" series.

I think I have read every Feehan book out there. After her last few releases being major disappointments for me, I have to say I was thankful for this one.

It's been a long time since I've read the "Ghostwalker" series so I think I forgot the "format" writing Feehan employs. But if you reading the series back to back, I bet it can be a little redundant.

Usually I don't write a synopsis but I have to say the backcover discription was inaccurate and misleading. Obviously whoever wrote it never read pass the first chapter. Basically, Thorn was one of the girls Whitney experimented on but deemed useless and was abandoned. She was lucky enough to have been adopted by a very honorable man. Now as an adult, Thorn and her adopted brothers have sworn to take down Whitney and anyone helping him.

Part of the plot of course involves meeting the Ghostwalkers and falling in love with Sam (total sweetheart). There were a lot of "Am I worthy?" kind of thoughts. Some of it was figuring out who the traitors were. It was very action packed and the steamy scenes don't happen until the end of the book.

It was a very quick, mindless read. Fun addition for the series.
