This wonderfully interesting account of Eleanor's relationship with her mother-in-law gave me new understanding of Eleanor as a whole person rather than just a political figure, and explains the how and why of Sara's control of both her son, Franklin, and his wife. Always fun to read of early New York - both the city and the wealthy neighborhoods further up the Hudson River.
