Pike being one of my very favorite childhood authors, I had to pick Sati up when I found it on the sale rack at the library and read that it was his first adult novel. It was unlike his other young adult books that I've read in that it did not fall into the category of horror. But it still had that taste of supernatural phenomena that I've always loved from him. Even with a slow pace that was well-suited to the story, Pike gently told me that after all these years my favorite forgotten author still has the ability to completely enrapture me. I will definitely look for his other adult novels.

Perhaps this is a YA (young adult) book, although I would consider it suitable for all ages. It's not exactly easy to categorize it. You can whip through it in a quick afternoon, but then little pieces of it keep coming back days and weeks later.
You keep asking yourself, 'What if...?' or 'Wouldn't it be wonderful if...?"

From back cover:
--SATI--
I once knew this girl who thought she was God.
She didn't give sight to the blindor raise the dead. She didn't even teach anything, not really, and she never told me anything I probably didn't already know.
--SATI--
On the other hand, she didn't expect to be worshipped, nor did she ask for money.
Given her high opinion of herself, some might call that a miracle.
--SATI--
I don't know, maybe she was God. Her name was Sati, and she had blonde hair and blue eyes.
--SATI--
For all who meet her, Sati will change everything.
Sati may change everything for you.

Not quite like other Christopher Pike novels ... I'd say it's a little more on the adult side, but still a good read.
