This was obviously not the first in a series. I just picked it up from a swap and was a bit discouraged as i constantly felt I had missed something.
It's obviously not the final book in the series either...
Set in 1864 in the Americas as settlers are crossing to settle in the west.
If you want to try it, I suggest a little research first to find the order of the books and then give it a go. I wouldn't be surprised if it was better as the "whole"
