If you have a name brand prescription that doesn't have a generic equivalent, you may be able to find a coupon for dollars off or a free prescription at the drug's website.  Each offer is different, some are for first time prescribers, some are once per year.

This is true -- I got a $20 off coupon recently  for the Lovaza my husband takes for his cholesterol -- it made the RX $2 that month because the normal co-pay is $22.   I was thrilled!

For those who are on brand-name medications, I suggest bookmarking the following site:

http://www.prescriptioncouponsandrebates.com/

They aggregate all the various offers for coupons and rebates for drugs - I always check here before refilling a brand-name prescription.

Also, always ask your doctor if samples are available.  I have asthma and need to always carry an inhaler - I politely ask my allergist every time I visit if she has samples and am always sent home with a bag full of freebies - it has been years since I have paid anything for an inhaler.

Happy saving!

A fellow PBSer gave me this link a while back.  With the info from this site, you can get on the patient assistance program in order to get your meds free.  Most pharmaceutical companies off this program and you can make pretty good money and still qualify.  I get 2 meds that would cost hundreds each for free this way.

My daughter looked up Walmarts $4-$10 drugs for me when I needed to get back on my meds quickly. Found the complete list on line. Now if I have to see a doctor for anything I bring the list with me and ask the md if here is anything on that list that will help. Since I can give them the list of what is avaible, it is rare now that I pay more then $10 for an Rx.

I tried going through the Rx companies to get meds, however never heard back from anyone. That was when I went off of them for several months. Very unhappy time for me. Now I am on meds i can afford.  If only I could find an md, that inexpensively it would be great!

seems like I saw that walgreens had a clinic in their pharmacy..haven't been back there in a while since meds are mail order..but I remember reading or hearing it on tv or something that they were gonna have a 'simple clinic' during business hours.
