I had THE PREGNANCY TEST on my wishlist.  I thought I would get it as my wish was granted yesterday.  But the sender just sent me a denial, saying she does not send books to people with conditions.  (My only condition is that I ask for books that are not housed in a smoker's home).  I have had books sent to me that have smelled so bad it comes though the mailing envelope.  I have had books sent to me that have turned yellow from the tobacco in the air of the person's home.  That is why I have asked people not to send me smelly books.

Thank goodness for conditions!  It saved me from another ashtray book!  Hopefully more copies will be posted soon...

Why not?  Isn't Erin McCarthy chick lit?  Or are we not allowed to say that some books smell so bad that they give me headaches? I hate it when a book is so smelly that you can't read it in bed.

No, it's my bad. There are 4 other books with "The Pregnancy Test" as their title, and they are all Harlequin superromance (or like, self-help type books). None of that comprises chick lit. Since the OP did not put the name of the author, I didn't even know another one existed. It also really had nothing to do with chick lit in the post. There's a cool thread right now in "Questions about PBS" that I am tracking on the smoke smell subject with some good suggestions on how to get rid of it.

Oops, I didn't realize that this title would be mixed up with other books either!  It makes sense though.  Sorry-I should have listed the author!

Heather-Thanks for letting me know there is a thread in "Questions about PBS" about smoke smell.  I never thought to check there!  It is frustrating to be turned down for a wish list book and not know how to fix the problem!  After reading what others wrote on how to handle smelly books, I may re-think my condition request.  If there are methods to help get the smell under control, I am all for it!  Thanks again!

I am interested in this book, because of another chick lit book I read called Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis which printed the first chapter toThe Pregnancy Test  in the back.  I read it, and now want to read the rest of the book!  I do hope other copies are posted soon, as the library has only one copy, it is seems to have a long wait list (curses-foiled again!)  My local Borders does not have it either.  Don't you hate it when you read part of a new book, get interested, and then have to wait to find a copy???

Has anyone else read this book?

Deb

I have a copy of that book, but we allow smoking in our house and have a wood stove, so I always decline swaps if smoking is a condition.
