I was all set to buy this book, then I thought I should check the library first. I'm so glad I did as the recipes in this book are extremely boring, have little flavor, and over half of them wouldn't interest my family anyway. I just decided to do my own menu planning using AllRecipes.com.
Even though I'm an experienced cook, I couldn't find ways to adapt these recipes to make them taste like anything.

I perused Saving Dinner by Leanne Ely recently. Cant really recommend it I tried three recipes and . . . while they werent bad recipes, they did not impress my family and I wont be making them again. I don't consider my family to be picky or hard to cook for.
But, I did like some of her time-saving tips and healthy alternatives. The cookbook is nicely arranged by season for those who live in colder climates and want soup in the winter and cold dishes in the summer.
Saving Dinner gives wonderful ideas and recipes. Leanne Ely gives recipes for a whole year. They are divided by week, and each week has the grocery list with it, along weith the recipes. At the end of each day is what to do to prepare for the next day's dinner. It is a wonderful way, and if your family likes the variety of meals, it's great!

The book is nice and it seems like a good idea to have the shopping lists there and everything, but we weren't able to use this book at all. The recipes are all very weird and complicated dishes - not very kid friendly or easy to cook. My kids wouldn't eat hardly anything in here and neither would my husband.
Very good book, wonderful ideas. However, my family doens't like fish of any kind, so I've had to make so many changes to the recipies (1 per week is fish) that I don't need to keep it. FlyLady recommended.
