LeeAnne, I know you've seen C. J. Box on numerous occasions, but I finally was able to see him and hear him speak this afternoon at the South Carolina Book Festival in Columbia. He said that this was his first visit to South Carolina. The crowd enjoyed his talk, and his autograph line was rather lengthy.

Can't wait for his new stand-alone, Back of Beyond, that will be released in August!!

Have you ever seen him without his hat?

Oh, Anna, I'm so glad you got to meet him!  Isn't he a nice guy?  I e-mailed him once to ask for recommendations for dining in Cheyenne after a 5 day camping trip to South Dakota.  He e-mailed a recommendation within a day.  We went to the place and it was most excellent. :)

Yes, I've seen him without a hat only once. He has a regular Sean Connery pate under the stetson. I think he said that the photos on the dustcovers of the stand-alones were without hats because his German publisher felt that the hat would put off German readers or something like that.  In all other photos, it's the black cowboy hat all the time.  Craig Johnson always wears his hat, too.  Something about the west does that to an author! LOL!

OK, LeeAnne, I was just scouring the Internet for more info on "Chuck" when I happened upon this article:

Your screen name is mentioned under the column subheading "Keeping the Day Job." Were you aware of this?

And here's an image of Box without his hat:

Yes, but I thought the author of the article was a little snarky.  My comment on Chuck's forum was hardly "breathless" or however she described it.  Ack! :P

C.J.Box was in Highlands Ranch (suburb south of Denver) last night so I got to go and get my Back of Beyond signed.  There were more than 200 people at the signing which was held at the library.  As usual, Chuck was very funny and personable.  This book is getting some of the best reviews that have been written about his books so I'm looking forward to starting it.

Ha!  You've probably already finished it and I haven't even started.  I'm brain dead from working long hours but I should have a bit more time after Friday.  I'm going to start next weekend. :)
