"Hubalek has skillfully blended fiction and historic fact to recreate the life of Swedish homesteader, Kajsa Svensson Runeberg. A story of emigrant dreams and pioneer struggles, it is an altogether rewarding story and one that deserves to be told."

one of the most riveting, fascinating, touching stories I have ever read! About immigrants in the 1800's from Scandinavia, who HOMESTEADED untouched, hard land in America, from SCRATCH!! How inventive and frugally wise she was.. and I am so grateful she kept a journal/ diary of it all...wonderful, wonderful true story!!! ( with pictures too!)
