I remember reading this book before I was ten. Then I wanted to grow up and be a pirate; I wanted my ears pierced with big hoops. Everything like that.
I didn't discover her science fiction and fantasy for another two or three years. Ate those up - seems like I read about a hundred before I branched off into other authors. :D
Therefore _Scarface_ was my first Andre Norton book. It wasn't _Treasure Island_ that got me hooked on pirates - it was Andre Norton.
