Has anyone read this book by Francine Rivers??  I was just wondering if it was as good as redeeming Love?  I love that book and would like to read another.  Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

This book is in my TBR.  Anyone interested in discussing it as we read?

Sure - I'll let you know when I get it. I'm currently finishing up another book (Time Lottery - VERY GOOD!!!) but assuming I get Scarlet Thread in the next few days it will be my next read.

I read this along time ago, so I don't remember it too well, just that I liked it.  I have read everything she has written axcept the book on abortion.  Nothing compares to Redeeming Love in my humble opinion. I have given it to so many women who have self-worth issues.  What a blessing!

The Scarlet Thread was the first book I read by Francine Rivers, and I really loved it when I read it. But then I read Redeeming Love and that definitely eclipsed it for me. TST is great, but I don't think it's as good as RL. I don't think Rivers can write a bad book (and I hear through the publishing grapevine that she has a new fiction title coming out in 08--finally!)

I really loved The Scarlet Thread, although I can't remember why at this point, because I read it about 10 years ago.  I do know that I liked it better than Redeeming Love, if you can believe that!

I have read lots of Francine Rivers....The Scarlet Thread is okay, but it does not compare to Redeeming Love, The Mark of the Lion Trilogy, or The Last Sin Eater!  Those books were so great!!!!  Redeeming Love had me hooked....I literally stayed up alllll night reading this one....just couldn't stop reading it.  The Mark of the Lion trilogy is FABULOUS!!!!!!!  And the Last Sin Eater just makes such a true point in such a unique way!  I just recently received "And the Shofar Blew."  It's currently in my TBR pile!

I'm reading Scarlet Thread right now!! By the looks of it, I'll be done with it in about a day, I can't put it down.

I LOVE NAP TIME!

I just finished it! It's back up on my bookshelf now if someone wants it next. :-)

I REALLY enjoyed it. I love the way the main character and the old journal writer's stories (don't want to give away too much!) reflected each other.

I read this book many years ago and while I don't remember the specifics I remember that it was a good book that I enjoyed.  I have read almost every book by Francine Rivers and my favorite one of hers is The Atonement Child.  The book was so good that I finished it in one night.

I agree with Amy C above ... it's worth reading but not as great as the others she mentioned.  My favorite was the trilogy  "The Mark of the Lion", I couldn't put those down

I just started reading that the first one (Mark of the Lion series) yesterday.  So far, so good!

I have to say, I did recently come across a book of hers that I had to stop reading because I just wasn't getting into it: The Last Sin Eater. It seemed like it might have a good story, but I was so distracted by her use of the dialect in the characters, that it distracted me and I just couldn't get into the story. Can anyone tell me what I missed? Is the book worth wading through the thick (and to me, distracting) dialect of the characters to keep reading? I only got through a few chapters and I had to put it down.  I wonder if I didn't give it enough time, though, because I have yet to find another book of hers that I haven't immediately gotten immersed in!!

I read The Scarlet Thread a few years back and thought it was pretty good. I've read a lot of hte books she has written. But there aren't too many books that I have read that I hadn't liked.

I've got that book in my stack of books to read.  Maybe I'll read that one next.  The only book I've read by Francine Rivers is And the Shofar Blew (I think that's the name) and I loved it.  I hope this one is as good.

Since reading this thread I have now read - Redeeming Love, The Scarlet Thread, Unashamed, Unveiled and I have And the Shofar Blew in my TBR pile.  I've also already read The Atonement Child.  Francine Rivers has an amazing gift with writing.
