I read this last fall and loved it!  In fact, a friend and I were just discussing it again the other day!

I wanted to share this with all of you interested.  Years ago we went to a B&B in Ashland, Oregon.  The book was on a table and looked interesting to me.  The inn keeper explained the author had recently stayed there and had left this signed copy of the book.

While staying there I started the book, didn't get very far into it, but realized I needed to order it.  Luckily I was able to receive it through PBS, then pass it on back in PBS.

Sounds like a winner.  Putting it on my Reminder List (I'm not allowing myself to order anything else until I chisel away at my TBR pile).

Yes!  This is a wonderful "feel good" read, with a great collection of characters and food.  Some of us may identify ourselves  (a little bit) with the main characters mother....someone who used books to escape from the realities of life.

A friend who also loved this book recommended THE LOVE GODDESS' COOKING SCHOOL by Nicole Senate.

Another food related novel that I enjoyed very much is LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE.

Loved Like Water for Chocolate!  Learned about magical realizism before I read it.  Knowing about it helped me reallly enjoy the book.  Has to be a favorite!  Sometimes I think about it when I cook & am adding spices or special ingredients.

I WL'd The Love Goddess' Cooking School.  Thank you for sharing the info!

Joy for Beginners is a WONDERFUL story. I knew it was wanted so I read it and sent it out.. It is one you want to put at the top of your TBR list. It is a book all women could read and hopeful will read. It is full of love, real life, family and friends.  I can't wait for her next one.
