Even though this was copyrighted in 1979 I still found the information to be very interesting. She writes about the ocean in a very poetic way. I thoroughly enjoyed the chapters about ocean currents and tides.

I rank this book with those of Thor Heyerdahl for its compelling examination of the environment. Her treatise of 1950 is updated in this edition (1989) and is as true as ever today. While some work has been accomplished to clean up our waterways, it is merely the tip of the iceberg. We are yet to do much to return the seas to a suitable state, if that is at all possible. Here also is an examination of the ever political global warming peril. You will be amazed at how far back this issue was recognized as well as how little has been done.
