It is a lush book, full of characters, cliffs, and hidden secrets. Sort of a cross between a Gothic romance and a typical Fantasy book. I enjoyed it as I read it, though it hasn't been real memorable over time.

Caradore is a small seaside kingdom whose rulers have a traditional magical connection with sea dragons... until the fire-worshiping soldiers of the Magravandian Empire conquer the land. The old beliefs are hidden and preserved in unexpected ways. Several generations later, a pair of twins tries to restore the sea dragons to power with unforeseen results.
