So to get on the WL at a lower number?

yep.... but it doesn't always work that way. Sometimes I'm so early that the book isn't in the database yet so I make a mental note to check back...by the time I check back I'm #175.

Yes, I've been doing that lately.....but I'm concerned about how the upcoming WL changes may affect it.

I used to do it..., a couple of books I actually got inline when there were less than 5 waiting hopefully I'll get them before the new system makes it's debut.

Now when I get a release title from a favoite author I put them on my amazon WL and worry about how I'll get them later.  I'm saving my WL spaces for those books I've been waiting a long time for and am close to the end, the rest I'll re-evaluate at a later date but I've decided to stop putting any thing new on my WL for the forseeable future.

I do sometimes. Usually only if I know a favorite author has a new one coming out.  Most of the time in that case I end up buying and then posting it to someone's WL instead of waiting to get it posted to mine.

Yep, all the time.  If I know a book is being released by my favorite author or in my favorite series, I figure I might as well be in the front of the line than at the back.

It's rare, but I do sometimes try that.  Usually, the hardcover is already available and heavily wishlisted.  I might watch for the paperback to come into the database.

Yes!!  Lol, the lines are long, so I check often for new releases.

I also go through once every week or two and check for odd ISBNs on my WL books, so it is easy to add any new titles from my favorite authors at the same time.  I have a lot of books on my WL at the moment that haven't been released yet.

I don't see why you wouldn't.  I'd expect the new wishlist system to credit everyone with the amount of time titles had been on their wishlist, so the list would at least start out in the same order.

I "ditto" what Tammy T. said. I'm very particular about adding anything to my WL now  - I don't think I have since I saw how the new one would be. Perhaps in the future....................        M'ann

I only add books in advance if it is one of my favorite authors - usually Greg Iles, John Grishom and Robert McCammon.

Nah.  I find enough in-print books.  I also refuse to read series unless all the books are out (or they are independent of each other), so I don't tend to start looking for books until they've been out a while.

The couple books I would care enough to do that--I just go and buy them.  I don't want to wait for them. :)
