Someone on the Members Thoughts forum suggested I post this here, so here I am  :-)

Earlier today I tried to search here at PBS for it and came up blank so I thought that asking at large might help.  This is one of the few historical romances that has stuck in my brain and for the life of me I can not remember why I got rid of the book.  I ablsolutely loved it!  Anyhoo here goes.

This is a historical romance and is a fairly large novel written before 1990, I read this in the late 80's.  A young family on an ocean voyage gets caught in a storm and capsized.  Dad dies in the shipwreck.  Mom, young daughter, and steward get washed ashore on an uncharted tropical island.  Over the years Mom and Steward become romantically involved and give the young girl a sister.  Mom and (step) Dad die.  Two sisters survive on their own for several more years.  A handsome explorer finds them and takes them back to England to 'civilize' them.  The heroine is red haired, and her sister is a petite brunette.

Any ideas?  Storm of Passion by Virginia Brown is close, but not the book I am thinking of.  Hm I seam to recall that the cover was predominantly white with tropical flowers and a beautiful woman (of course).

Thanks! Dona

It does sound good and long too. I love those long, epic books.

It is a long epic.  If I remember correctly it was a 500+ page book.  I love epic historical romances!  And this one was my fav!  I seem to recall another involving a herem and a red haired beauty, but I digress.  I am not having any luck finging it since for the life of me I can not remember anything about the title or the author.  <sigh>  My bad, no buscuit for me.
