As I was reading this book, I was amazed at the sheer dysfunctionality of this family. But whereas the story could be sad, Friedmann writes with such humor and brings to life such over-the-top characters, the book is bittersweetly funny. Great read for those who love Southern authors and Southern stories!
funny funy book
I enjoyed this book quite a bit - Jerusha Bailey was a very funny character and this book had several laugh-out-loud-funny parts. All in all, it made for an amusing read and I'm glad it had a good ending.
For me, this was an unusual story. It is told from three point of views and none of the people are happy. There is the crabby mom, nerdy son, and thankless daughter. We glimpse into their lives and thoughts and what makes them this way. It was only a tad upbeat at the ending.
