A great fantasy book; I love it. The characters really come to life and you are drawn into their plight.

Fantasy for children - Siblings mover away from thier cousins of the same age, and greatly miss them. Before moving, the children would play a fanatsy make-believe game, pretending to be royalty, acting it out, and so on. After moving, they discover a way to connect for real in the make-believe world. And it's in the middle of a crisis! They have to play their assigned parts, and still get home in time for supper. I did not find it very interesting, and neither did my children, who are used to fantasy. It might be more interesting for a newbie in the fantasy world.

Not up to Tam Lin, in my opinion... but still Pamela Dean. I remember this book took me a long while to track down.

Each vacation for the past nine years, cousings Patrick, Ruth, Ellen, Ted, and Laura have played at a game they call the "Secret" - an invented, scripted world full of witches, unicorns, a magic ring, court intrigue, and the Dragon King. In the Secret, they can imagine anything into reality, and shape destiny. Then the unbelievable happens: by trick or by change, they actually find themselves in the Secret Country, their make-up identities now real. The five have arrived at the start of their game, with the Country on the edge of war. What was once exciting and wonderful now looks threateningly before them, and no is sure how to stop it...or if they will ever get back home.
