Now that buddies have been given and gifts are being bought, we need a place to chat about the goodies! We can discuss the great books here and say thanks to the secret buddy who sent the great book. ;-)

We'll just have to chit-chat amongst ourselves until the packages start rolling in so the thread doesn't get buried. That shouldn't be a problem for any of us! :-D

Ordered books for my giftee last night. Managed to get 2 from the list for great prices (under $15 total). Next B&N shift I'll have to pick up a bookmark!

Erika, it probably isn't good to let us know you work at B&N! Trust me on this one...when I worked retail, every single person I've ever known would call just because they were wondering if I happened to get a store discount. With this book mad group, you'll start getting fifty pm's per day. LOL!

Well, since we are talking about it... Uh, Do you happen to get a store discount??

Just kidding!! I promise, lol!

Erika you are going to have a lot of "buddies" lol.

I need to find a better UBS. THe only one here in Morgantown sells some used but mostly new books. And he charges almost new prices for the used ones. I refuse to pay $20 for a used HB book, especially one with a lot of wear and tare.  Most of his PB's were over $5. I miss my store in PA.

I just ordred two books from my giftee's wishlist and now will search for a few baubles to fill in.  Nothing fancy.  Just little somethings that I hope will brighten my person's day.

When is everyone planning on mailing out their packages?  I'm thinking I'll wait until early December to mail.  It's got to "feel" like Christmas before I start wrapping and mailing out gifts.  We've had unseasonably warm temps and lots of sunshine here in MN, so it doesn't feel anywhere near like Christmas!  Heck, it doesn't feel like Thanksgiving really, and that's breathing down our necks!  I'm not ready for the holiday season!  Well, really I'm not usually a holiday season sort of girl, I prefer summer!

Shelley, I agree---I''ve been hearing the obligatory blaring carols in stores already and I am just not there yet....I'm thinking Dec 10 or so.

I was able to get two of my giftee's most wanted books for under $15.00!  Very excited - I plan on mailing out the second week of December.

I am also the buyer for a mail order pet supply warehouse so I get lots of samples - I have lots of goodies for his/her pets to include.

I think my Secret Santa wins the 'fastest on the trigger' award---I don't know who it is yet because I haven't broken down and opened it, but a book-sized box arrived today from Amazon.....and I haven't ordered any books lately.....so I'm thinking........but it just feels too early to open it and see, although I'm dying to!

I ordered a book from Amazon for my SS person on Thursday evening (after 10PM)  and I received it today - Saturday!  And it came media mail.  I am shocked.

Colleen - Kudos to you for your restraint!  Let us know when you give into temptation!

I am very excited -- I ordered two BRAND NEW books (from two different vendors) for my SS giftee for under $15!! Now, I just have to hope that they both arrive within the next couple of weeks so I can send them out by mid-December.

Colleen -- like Shelley, I'm impressed with your restraint -- there is no way that I'd let an Amazon package sit unopened for more than the time it took me to bring it in from the mail box and grab a pair of scissors. Delay gratification??? Not when there's a book at stake.

Wow, Colleen, I would have ripped into that sucker as soon as I could!  You deserve a round of applause!

Edit....wrote applesauce instead of applause!!  Guess it's time to eat!!

Michelle - LOL!  I think Colleen deserves applause AND applesauce!  Anyone who can let a package of books sit unopened for more than a minute deserves anything she wants!

Colleen - Go treat yourself to a big bowl of applesauce!  (Then open your package - if for any reason to satisfy our curiosity.  LOL! )

Fortunately, I love both applesauce and applause! :P

But, alas, it remains unopened .... I am out of town for the holiday at my dad's house....so I can't really take credit for willpower. We'll see how I do when back in town next week.......I am curious.......

I too am waiting on a book to arrive and then I will be all set bookwise. Still have to do the extra goodie shopping but I have to wait for a day when I can leave the crumbsnatcher with hubby so he won't destroy the store while I'm shopping :)

I'd say the packages should be mailed by next weekend. That would give them just about three weeks before the holiday which should be more than enough time. Of course, Media Mail can be really slow at that time of year too, but I still think that's enough time. Really, I always hear that Media Mail slows down around then, but since 2005, my packages arrive just like nor mally every year. Maybe it depends on where you live, dunno.

Don't forget to PM me if you can't mail your package for some reason! And, remember, you won't be put on a blacklist or excommunicated from the forum if something happens and you can't mail the book. The ladies here understand that sometimes sh*t really does happen. :-P
