As everyone receives their Secret Santa gift, we can talk about it here. Post what you got and reveal the name of your secret buddy.

Well, first I received The Secret Bride: In The Court of Henry VIII . There was no indication of who it was from, but it was on my list so I figured it was my Secret Santa and I was happy.  A few day later I received Nefertiti by Michelle Moran.  This one had a note from Jennifer W. (rainbowsend). Then I was super happy.  Thank you Jennifer!

This was really fun.  I enjoyed picking out books for someone who really wanted them (my adult children don't read). Maybe we can do this again in the Spring!

Ironically, the sweet Donna who just posted was my Secret Santa, and she sent me the fantastic Stripping of the Altars by Eamon Duffy which I have been desiring to read for a long time (non fiction about English Christianity at the time of the Reformation) and Hugh and Bess by Susan Higgenbotham (hi!) I was touched and they arrived a couple of weeks ago.

And, my books for my person are bought, but I wanted to mail them out this week.

I just received The Greatest Knight by Elizabeth Chadwick from Michelle L. Thanks so much!  I have been looking forward to reading it for so long!

What a fun surprise it was and I would love to do something like this again!

I received 2 books in yesterday's mail from Michelle R. (lilynlilac):  Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir and The Winter Rose by Jennifer Donnelly.  Thanks, Michelle!!

I agree that this was a great idea - alot of fun to give and receive.  We should definitely do this again!

mine had my Secret Santa's return address and name on the envelope, so I knew absolutely that awesome and generous Jennie B had sent me a brand spanking new of hard to find Katherine by Anya Seton---she chose the book on my WL for the longest time! I was sooooooooooooo happy, I PM'd her immediately.

I, however, have not yet mailed mine--it'll be going out 1st class tomorrow!

this was an amazing idea--thanks, Valli!

I used the "mail to a friend" option and I changed my settings and had the PBS address show up for this one so my recipient will not know who I was.  But maybe by the process of elimination, she will find out!! haha

Good question, Wendy! I was thinking we'd reveal who sent what after the books were received, but I don't think I brought that up when I posted about my brilliant idea, lol. Well, at least now, we have worked all of the kinks out of the swap and it will be even more fun when we do it again.

I definitely think we should do it again!

I mailed mine out today, and did reveal myself. Should I have posted it to the recipient's wish list? I didn't even think about that!

Janelle, if you had posted it to their wish list it would have cost the recipient a credit.

I put a card in mine, and the one I received had a note in it revealing my Secret Santa.

Mine arrived today!  From Holly P I received:  Prince of Dreams by Nancy McKenzie (I really liked her Queen of Camelot book) and Dreaming the Hound by Manda Scott.  Thank you so much Holly - I love them!  This was so much fun - I definately think we should do it again.

Mine are going out today as well, and I've included a "Secret Santa" card so she'll know who I am ... but I think she'll figure it out anyway :-)

Cheers,

Catt

I got a lovely box from Cheryl/Hannamatt52 today with 2 beautifully wrapped packages (she must work as a professional gift wrapper, because mine never look that good) and a nice card.  Along with a long-awaited WL book (Devil Water by Anya Seton), she also sent a box of See's Peanut Brittle, my favorite candy in the universe!   Her card said "treats for the tummy as well as treats for the mind".

Thank you Cheryl!

Cheers,

Catt

I would like to nominate Elizabeth B. (Cattriona) as the best Secret Santa ever! She sent me THREE books from my wish list, an assortment of candy from New Zealand and a gift for my cat, Bella - a very potent catnip toy!

Here are photos of Bella enjoying her gift:  http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i45/Fantastic_Planet/Random%20Pics/Bellanuts.jpg & http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i45/Fantastic_Planet/Random%20Pics/Bellasnuggle.jpg.

Also, the gift tags she used on the wrapped books are coupons for free Krispy Kremes.

The books are:

  •  The Galliard by Margaret Irwin
  • Having the Decorators In by Reay Tannahill
  • Symphony by Jude Morgan

Thank you very much, Elizabeth!

I don't know about that Felicia, I think you rate right up there too!!  Felicia sent me an Aubrey/Maturin novel The Yellow Admiral in the edition I am trying to replace all my mix and match novels from that series to.  When you stack them all together the spines make beautiful pictures of ships.  She also sent me a copy of  Saturnalia by Lindsey Davis.  I love  good historical mystery and have had this one on my wishlist.  Thanks again, Felicia.

PS.   your Bella is gorgeous!

Valli--

This has been a really fun swap -- thank you for thinking it up and organizing it.  I hope we can do it again next year :-)
