Since there isn't a thread yet, I'm going to start one since I already received my Secret Santa package!   cheeky

Thank you to R.E.K for my gifts!!!  I recieved a HB copy of Lionheart by Sharon Kay Penman (!), a Christmas pin (definitely needed a new one for my coat!), a booklet of traditional carols that reminded me very much of Christmas mass as a child, and a cloth book cover (which will get used when I crack open Lionheart!)

Thank you again!

CR

Okay everyone, my wonderful Secret Santa, the lovely Jeanne, has set the bar very high for you all!  My very heavy box that arrived today (actually it arrived yesterday in the storm, but the door on our package mail area was iced shut until my husband thawed it out today!) contains:

A lovely pair of red jingle bell earrings, Rest not in Peace by Mel Starr, Grail Knight by Angus Donald, Circle of Shadows by Imogen Robertson, AND Within the Fetterlock by Brian Wainwright (that I have been wanting to read for the longest time!).

Thank you, thank you to Jeanne, my wonderful Secret Santa and to our ever vigilant Deb for running this madhouse yet another year!heart

Thus far (and not surprisingly), you Secret Santas have done me proud -- such wonderful packages. Y'all sure know how to make $15 stretch (almost to the point of incredulity). And given the PMs I'm receiving, there are plenty more packages on the way. Thanks for making this such a fun event and for making my job so easy.

I received a box too large to fit in the mailbox today! The perfect day for a present, since I dealt with some unpleasant things at work. I received 4 gift wrapped presents!!!! inside that large box from Setdancer. The first package I unwrapped (thank goodness we don't have to wait) had 2 books, City Girl, Country Vet by Cathy Woodman & The Queen's Man by Sharon Kay Penman. That right there made me happy, but I did forge on. The next wonder is Who Put the Devil in Deviled Eggsby Ann Treistman. I irritate...er, challenge everyone around me, wondering "who do you suppose ate that first"(a kiwi? A rutabaga?) and have wanted this book for a long time! Another long-awaited treat was in the next package; Sarah Johnson's Mount Vernon by Scott E Casper. Cannot wait to read it! But wait...there's more! This is so amazing! Last, but most definitely not least is Our World photographs by Molly Malone Cook and text by Mary Oliver. I am so very grateful & thank you ever so much, for the treasures and the timing. I believe I'll put the kettle on, Debbie

Donna W. sent me my very most wanted book Nor Will He Sleep by David Ashton - I've read the whole series up to this one and just loved it! She also sent me Bloody Lessons by M. Received a lovely card from Linda a few days ago, with a terrific message...that merely forshadowed the package that arrived today!  4 beautifully wrapped books!  Thank you Linda, for the kind words and the lovely presents.  I am going to try and drag out the anticipation and wait to open the gifts until closer to Christmas!

And DebKit, you are welcome. I am glad the package arrived on a particularly challenging day for you - it was very fun to shop for!  You had such an interesting list.

I received a package with two fantastic books in it today from Mary (mepom) - "Pilgrims Inn" by Elizabeth Gouge and "The Chaperone" by Laura Moriarty.  Both books I am greatly looking forward to reading, and I'm so glad she found them!

So, a HUGE and heavy box arrived for me last night from Carolyn--yankeechick--that I couldn't wait to open.  Inside, I found three lovelies: House of Stone, Blue Asylum, and In the Shadow of the Banyan!  Each of these has been a hard-to-get on my WL for a long time that I cannot wait to read.   Carolyn, thank you so much for your generosity --I am thrilled with my haul!

I found a package waiting for me tonight from my Secret Santa - Lauri E (luluette).   She sent me FOUR great books from my list for Santa (said that her favorite used book store stepped up to help fill my wish list).    I got:

  • Broken Wing by Judith James - a historical romance that my fellow historical romance readers all tell me I MUST read
  • The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern - a book I loved, but I had borrowed it from the library and so am THRILLED to have a keeper copy
  • The Mischief of the Mistletoe and The Pasion of the Purple Plumeria - two books from the Pink Carnation series by Lauren Willig.   I really love this series and am collecting all of them for my keeper shelf.

Thanks SOOOO much!

YAY! So glad your package made your day, Lynne!

I had a lot of fun when I shopped for you. Indeed, my favorite place to spend my money had a huge collection of loveliness when I went in the last time! I was very excited to see four of the books on your list...and I had a coupon on top of their regular low prices!

yes

I also threw some books for me into my basket, but we won't mention those, now, will we???

wink

Happy reading - and Happy Holidays!

I received a heavy box from Mimi - thank you, thank you, thank you Mimi!

I was delighted to receive a bunch of cool things to read. She included a hardcover copy of Winter of the World (Century, Bk 2) :: Ken Follett for my keeper shelf, The Last Aloha :: Gaellen Quinn and Before Ever After :: Samantha Sotto! Three magnificent books for me! Whooo-hooo! She also included a lovely card that looks handmade, a little felted lady ornament that I must hide from my cats, lest she be mistaken for a toy, and a home-canned jar of what looks like blueberry preserves or jam...I won't be sure which of the two it is until I open it. Either way, it looks delicious! I held it up to the light to appreciate the gorgeous color. I just bought a sweater that color...

wink

I can't wait to have some on toast tomorrow morning for breakfast. I love artisan food goodies. Thank you so much, Mimi!!! Happy holidays to you!
