I haven't been to the movies in a while. Recommend some good ones.

I haven't seen anything I could recommend, sadly, but I will wait to see responses.

I liked Jersey Boys.  But then, I am of that generation.

I thought the music was fun and the story fairly realistic.

I saw The Fault in Our Stars.  Good, but sad.

I can tell you what NOT to see.  Little Christian movie called Alone Yet Not Alone.  I call it Backwoods Barbie Meets Stereotypical Native Americans.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with my favorite actress, Dame Judi Dench.  Oldie but a very good film.

We also watched all the Call the Midwife episodes last weekend.  Really terrific.  I love that they don't hire actresses based only on cover girl beauty stereotypes.  The stories are happy and sad and everything inbetween.

Monuments Men held my husband's attention throughout, and he's one of those supercritical fellows who won't tolerate "fluff" or "stoopidity" or all 'big explosions and car/truck/boat/aircraft chase scenes' so-called action films. . . . .He likes stories from real life the best, although he did enjoy watching The Bucket List, with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, at home recently.

We hadn't seen an adult movie in months and hired a babysitter a few weeks ago and went to see "Edge of Tomorrow" with Tom Cruise.  I would never have seen it in a theater except I received three unrelated recommendations from family and co-workers.  I . . . LOVED IT - best movie I have seen in a theater or on DVD all year.  I know Tom Cruise is controversial, but I really do like him as an actor and this is one of his best movies in years.

I think that Tom Cruise is one of those actors who if you didn't know so much about his personal life, you wouldn't second guess his movies.   I haven't yet seen a bad T. C. movie.  Some are not stellar, but most are really good.  And he is a great actor, IMHO.  I just think he is probably a nutcase in 'real' life.

We just rented "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" last weekend and then went to the theatre to see "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes".  I loved the old movies and thought "rise" was very well done, and I enjoyed "Dawn".  They are well done with lots of classic tie ins to the original.

"Lone Survivor" with Mark Wahlberg is based on a true story. Loved it.

If you like any kind of moonshining movies or anything "LAWLESS" is a really good movie also based on a true story.

We very rarely go to the movie theater. I just wait for movies we might like to come out on DVD and buy them and watch them at home. Myself, I can't wait to see " Dawn of the Planet of the Apes".

I wasn't expecting such a good movie when I watched Labor Day.  Mostly watched it because I like Kate Winslet.  I saw it a few months ago and still catch myself thinking about it.

I love love love the foreign film "Departures."  Japanese and on Netflix and I think, amazon.

I agree with Bonnie A. . Monument Men was really good. I love movies based on true stories..  But we tend to wait to movies come to Redbox before we see it. My guy and I did go to see Godzilla . And he was really disappointed .Godzilla was on only at the end of the movie for about 10 minutes. He's is a Godzilla fan but he was really unhappy with this one. If you aren't a Godzilla fan like he is, you will like it. I thought it was a cool movie. A lot of excitement in it.

I watched 2 movies on netflix this wk end.

NEBRASKA with Bruce Dern.   He was perfect for the role. I liked the movie, but it was depressing at times.

AMERICAN HUSTLE.  The cast was great, especially Amy Adams & Jennifer Lawrence.

rented tonight The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Enjoyed it very much. all British actors and actresses.

when I returned this movie I asked if I could buy it. I knew it played well because I had just watched it. It was $2.99 so I bought it.

The Book Thief on Netflix. It appears to be a kid flik from ads, but is a wonderful story. I want to readbook now. The setting is during the Natzi invasion. A young girl & her brother are given to a couple due to poverty.

The Book Thief was good. I thought the book was a little bit too long. For me it seemed to drag a little in the middle. But I'm glad I read it.

I just saw on youtube recently The Sea of Grass. Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. They changed the ending from the book.

Meg, so glad you enjoyed Departures.  I push that movie on everyone.  We have watched it numerous times and never tire of it.

Loved Nebraska.  And the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.  As for The Book Thief, loved loved loved it.  Read the print book twice, and saw the movie twice, and even though this is about movies, I really recommend the audio, which far surpassed either other version.

Saw The Giver this weekend, and while it was good, it was just that.  No great shakes.  I love that series and have read the prints and listened to the audio, and like those better.
