The suspense mounts in a small california town where children are disappearing from their homes and the streets.
Christopher Snow trying to find out if the children are dead or is the army's Fort Wyvern involved. A very good read that yu won't be able to put down.

Another great Koontz book --- unexpected twists, crazy science, crazy phenomena, and great characters (who's relationships are strong, and the ties are clear).

How do you fight evil - when evil lurks in the dark - and you can't go out during the day?
Children are being snatched in the town, and the police are covering it up. Add to that, a darkened, shut down army base where once animals and humans were subject to "trials"...that may still be going on.

In my opinion, the Christopher Snow books are the best work Dean Koontz has produced. Even if you don't like Koontz's usual thrillers, you might find you enjoy "Seize The Night" and "Fear Nothing".

You can read this book without having read the first book ("Fear Nothing"), but events and characters actions do make more sense if you read the books in order.

Moonlight Bay, California. A safe, secluded small town that is at its most picturesque in the gentle nighttimes that inspired its name. Now, somewhere in the night, children are disappearing. From their homes. From the streets. The police cannot be trusted to solve the mystery because in Moonlight Bay the police work their hardest to conceal crimes and silence the complainants rather than catch the perpetrators. They were long ago corrupted by a greater authority, hidden behind the supposedly shuttered walls of the adjacent military base, Fort Wyvern. When he sets out to find the missing five-year-old son of a former sweetheart, Christopher Snow believes the lost children are still alive. He is convinced the disappearances have everything to do with the catastrophic effects of secret research conducted deep within Fort Wyvern. To keep those secrets, extremely violent and powerful forces are willing to conceal even the most heinous crimes. But Christopher Snow has developed a secret advantage of his own. His rare genetic disorder - xeroderma pigmentosum, XP - leaves him dangerously vulnerable to light. Forced to live in the shadows, Christopher Snow knows the night world better than anyone, even those adversaries who seem at one with darkness.

Great book by Koontz. He is my favorite author though, so I might be a bit biased! Read it and you will enjoy it. If you haven't read anything by Koontz I would really suggest this title. It is really good and it goes fast!

I tried to read this book when it was first released in paperback and could not force myself through it. I didn't realize at the time that it was part of a series so maybe that was why I did not connect to the character at all. I did hold on to the book because I usually enjoy Koontz's work, so one of these days I'll get a copy of Fear Nothing and see if the first book in the series pulls me in.

If you get tired of "serious" books, this is the thriller for you - it has quirky, likeable characters, super intelligent mutant monkeys, time travel, top secret genetic experiments gone horribly wrong, and of course, a race against time to save the innocent victims of evil. I couldn't put it down.

I really enjoyed this book. When Chris's friend's son turns up missing he embarks on a quest to track him down that leads him to an abandoned hangar. Keeps you on the edge all the way through. I didn't realize it was the second book in a series until just recently. Looking for the first one now.

This is the only "Chris Snow" book I've ever read. I liked the character and, at the time of reading it, I didn't realize there were others. This is a great thriller and is action-packed as Chris can only go out at night, and NIGHT is when all the fun starts. Mystery, science (fiction?), terror. Great book.

I have to say, I have yet to find a Koontz book I don't like...but this one was close. Parts of it dragged for me and I'd skip a few pages to get back to the "good stuff." Then again, other parts of it grabbed me and I had a few late nights. So yeah, it's okay, but it's not one I'd rave about.

O WOW--I've read Koontz stuff before but this one had me on the edgs of my seat!
The story centers in Moonlight Bay, a secluded little town with a nasty secret. Children disapear at night, even from their homes. Parents are helpless because the police there conceal crimes and try to keep it all under wraps. One person, due to a genetic disorder, is forced to live in the shadows and can uncover the truth behind the disappearances of all the children, whom he believes to still be alive, by uncovering the town's most carefully kept, ominous, secret.

O--I got goosebumps just writing that...that's how good I found this book.

Together with "Watchers," these are absolutely my favorite books by Koontz.

A BookCrossing friend sent me this book a few days after I'd crossed it off my wish list (kind of crossed in the mail like). So I'm releasing this copy back out here without having read it yet, and will get to the other copy on my own time.

That said, I heard from another good friend that this book, and Fear Nothing, which was before this and contained the same primary character, were among Koontz's best! So I'm looking forward to reading them myself.
