I saw this listed on a freebie board sounds like a good site http://www.outreachofhope.org/index.cfm/PageID/508/index.html
Thank you so much for posting this awesome link. If you read my last post, you'll not be surprised that I bookmarked it. :)
I also wrote the website's address down. I think we can really use the resources they offer at church and once I get all the names of people in my life that could really use a basket, they will probably call me and ask if I am just sending freebies to everyone I know.
In the last couple of weeks 3 of my friends, all in their early 30's, have begun chemotherapy and for all it will definitely be a long and uncertain journey.
The strangest , I just can't think of a better word, diagnosis for one of my friends came when he went into the doctor's office thinking he had slipped a disc in his back. After many tests, taken in about the shortest time I have ever seen, he was diagnosed with cancer that had begun in his knee and has already traveled to the back and lungs.
Then my hubby's beloved uncle is currently participating in experimental chemotherapy trials in St Louis. His cancer started with a tumor on his appendix, his first doctor had thought it had started in his colon. Unfortunately, his has spread throughout his body and last week another tumor was found. One of the hardest parts for him is not being able to have his pups sit on his lap. They of course don't understand why they can't sit with their dad, and just sit and cry at his feet.
Several other friends are dealing with various stages of breast cancer.
So, as you can see, this website is really a godsend. :)
I love to get freebies, as Vicky my mail carrier can attest - I treat her very well on holidays and always miss her great service when she goes on vacation. Most days the mail won't fit in our large box, and that is without books coming from here, and she brings them to the door and rings the bell. I always try to have a bottle of something cold to hand her, while we have not hit triple digits as much as in past years, with the icky humidity it sure feels like it anyway but am glad to not be in Phoenix as one of my friends is - they have sure had a rough summer.
This is one freebie I am glad we don't need at our house, but I will get much use out of it.
This will be one of the blessings on my list today, as will you.
Thanks so much,
