OK so this caused me about 30 seconds of frustration and then I found the humor in it and then thought how ummm goofy (used for lack of better and appropriate word) the sender was.  So, here is the situation....

I requested a book...it is one that I'm giving to a family member, it didn't have to be in perfect condition but, I wanted it without any highlighting, writing, etc. (yeah PBS guidelines)  Well, when I requested this book I contacted the sender to see if the book was in pretty good condition...so finally the sender contacted me described the condition (a few dog-eared pages, creased front cover, and a little wear on the cover), all of which I was good with and said yes, I still want it.  She PM's back and says are you really sure you want this, I have three kids (childcare related book) and I didn't really find it all that helpful, you might want to get "*&^$#" book....I returned the PM and said, I have gotten that book also but, I would like this one also.  Then I get no response and on the last day that she could accept it I get a message that Sender refused due to RC's and she said in it..."got it from a smoker and I will not send, sorry it took so long."  Now she had access to my RC's the entire time we were cooresponding....

I don't know the real reason but, that woman was DETERMINED I was not going to get that book.

Not a major deal as the other book I had requested on the same topic of baby care the sender (not the same sender as described above) sent me the book and it is in like mint condition....

She should have just come out with the truth:  "I lost it."

She wanted YOU to cancel it so that she would not "look bad" for being unable to send a posted book. However, as you had asked her about the condition first, she might've been afraid you'd mark it RWP, even though you stated that her description was acceptable.

well, we had exchanged maybe 10 PMs between the two of us and I had told her...my only real concern was I didn't want any writing or highlighting...and that creases and dog ears just made it look "loved"...Oh I did mention I wanted the spine intact.

Just found it a weird exchange...

Are you sure it was her that cancelled it because of RC's? She could have decided not to take the chance or missed the mail by date while going back and forth with you and the request was passed on to someone else.

yes, it was the very same person because the PM's happened on the evening of the second & morning of the third day of the five days that she had to decide to accept the transaction and then she waited 2 more days before declining...besides her's was the only book in the system and my request is stuck on my reminder list until someone requests her's.

What child care book is it?  I have a few still that I haven't listed because I'm not quite ready to let go, but I probably really should.

I must be feeling silly today, because that struck me as very funny.  Exchanging PM after PM, trying to talk you out of the book, then finally canceling because of your requester conditions?  *laugh*

yeah Kari...as I said 30 seconds of frustration and then quite humerous....maybe that was shock rather than frustration...*shrugs*
