Yesterday, I received a book that the sender didn't mark as mailed. I pmed the sender to let her know this, otherwise I have no way to mark it as received. The book is in excellent condition and I want her to receive her credit. At the end of the day tomorrow, the book will be cancelled as the sender 'did not' mail the book out on time. That is if she doesn't respond by then. I don't want that to happen. Should I contact PBS and tell them that I did receive the book and if so, when?

I would contact TPTB once the book has timed out. The sender still has time to mark it mailed so I would not worry until it times out.

Connie, if the transaction does time out, you'll be able to go into your transaction archive and mark the book received from there.  No need to contact TPTB.

That said, the sender should mark it mailed herself.  Did you send her a reminder PM?  If the book isn't WLed, your transaction will move over to the next person FIFO and you don't want that person to mark the book mailed before you get a chance to cancel it.

Did you also double-check that the transaction that is pending and the book you received are both the same person (and that the initial transaction didn't time out/roll over to a new sender when you weren't paying attention?).

It is a wishlist book that just recently came out. That means I would go back to my position as 1st in line for the book if this times out. What are the chances that a new member posts the book, prints the label and mails it before I get to the computer?

Yes, it is the same person that is on my account page as having accepted and printed the wrapper.

I would put my account on hold and then just autorequest anthing else I was near the top for just incase.  And then just plan to check it first thing in the morning so you don't have to stay on hold very long. I don't know if putting just your WL on hold would work because it might still put this one back on the WL as autorequest.

Or you could add a requestor condition for that particular book.

I just contacted PBS and am awaiting their response. The sender hasn't responded to my pm nor has she marked the book as mailed. She needs to mark the book as mailed by 11:00 pm tonight.

Connie, TPTB are unlikely to take action on this as the system is designed to handle the situation without intervention.  If the transaction times out, just put the book on hold when it re-appears on your wishlist.  If the sender doesn't mark the book mailed, you can log it in received from your transaction archive.

Thanks, Denise, I will do that. All my wishlist books are on auto. Can I hold that one book and not lose my place with the others? Do I go off of auto then hold that one book and then go back to auto? I've never had to do that before. Once I screwed up a whole page of 50 books on my bookshelf putting it on hold. I had them posted on for months, then they went to the date that I messed up on. Now I know how to do vacation hold after that mess up. Lesson learned on vacation holding.

Well around 10:00 tonight, the book was finally marked as mailed. I then marked it as received. I'm pretty sure that the PBS team did move it there. They didn't respond to my feedback, but the sender never read both of my pm messages nor replied back (if read through emails).I'm glad she did get her credit, whereever she is.

**Oops, weird coincidence! I had another wishlist book to me 'waiting for member'. It went the 5 days without any response. Then the book was put back on my wishlist. Guess who the sender was? Yup, the same sender as the book that wasn't marked mailed! I never noticed until I looked in the transaction archive. lol I'm assuming now that something came up and the sender had to go away, PBS marked the other book as mailed, and she wasn't home to respond to the other book. I understand as things do happen in 'real' life. **

Just thought I would let you all know what feedback I received from the PBS team. If this happens to you, then you can contact the team. They replied back to me that they marked the book mailed by the sender so that I could mark it as received. I'm thinking that they helped mainly because the book is a wishlist book and not a normally FIFO book. Anyway, it was all resolved in time. Thank you PBS team.

Sounds great Connie!  Hope you get the other wishlist book soon also!
