how long does it usually take for the system to remove a book from your "books you requested" list after the deadline has passed? i have a request pending that was supposed to be marked sent by 11 PM last night; when should i expect that it will be canceled or passed on to the next sender on the list?

related to that, what percentage of books that pass this deadline have you ended up getting anyway? and did you mark them received so that the credit was given to the sender even though they forgot to mark it sent by the deadline?

i've had it happen once before. i PM'ed the sender about it, and they did not respond, so they did not get their credit. weird.

Check your transaction archive - the request has probably already gone to the next person.  I've always gotten my books eventually - it might cycle through a few members before I get a taker, but I've never had one time out with no more copies in the system.

no, it is not in my transaction archive (yet). that's why i asked how long it takes, as it does not go into the TA until it is canceled. i suspect that it will time out since there probably are not a lot of copies of this book in the system. (i will put it on my reminder list next to see how many copies there are...)

You know what - I think I misunderstood your original question.  Check the help docs - I believe senders have a 2-day grace period after the mail date.

oh, they do, but i thought that that was figured into the date stated on the "book requested",,,but now that i think about it, it is 2 days after that. thanks for the reminder.

There is a grace period after the mail date.  Even if the book arrives late, you are still obligated to mark it received.  The only exception is if you received 2 copies of the same book because the 1st sender didn't mark the book mailed.  In that case, you're only obligated to mark the book received that is in your active transactions.
